Downtown Holland Awarded $4,000 Grant to Support 2019 Street Performer Series

Holland, MI – The Downtown Holland Principal Shopping District is pleased to announce that they are the recipients of a $4,000 grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) through the Holland Area Arts Council to support the 2019 Street Performer Series. The 2019 Series, sponsored by Gentex Corporation, will kick off next week Thursday, June 13 and will continue every Thursday through August 29. From 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm every Thursday, the sidewalks of Downtown Holland will be filled with performing artists and groups from every background, including musicians, balloon twisters, jugglers, magicians, aerial acrobats, dancers, caricature artists, face painters and more.

“We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Holland Area Arts Council,” said Downtown Holland Marketing Coordinator Kara de Alvare. “This is our 15th anniversary of the Street Performer Series and we would not be celebrating this milestone without their generous support of the arts. Together with our event sponsor, Gentex Corporation, we are looking forward to another great summer of performance art in Downtown Holland.”

The Regional Regranting Program is a grant giving partnership financed by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and run by regional re-granting agencies. The Holland Area Arts Council is one of 15 re-granters who administer funds at the local level to support arts and cultural projects that recognize and address a community need. The MCACA strengthens arts and culture in Michigan by increasing its visibility, supporting arts education, encouraging new, creative and innovative works of art and broadening cultural understanding.
