• Holland Attorneys Listed Among ''Best Lawyers in America''

    Grand Rapids, Mich., August 19, 2019 – Two attorneys from Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge’s Holland office were recently selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2020.

    Best Lawyers is the oldest peer-review publication in the legal profession. A listing in Best Lawyers is widely regarded by both clients and legal professionals as a significant honor, conferred on a lawyer by his or her peers (Copyright 2019 by Woodward/White, Inc. of Aiken, SC). All included lawyers must first be nominated by their peers, and then voted for by a certain number of listed lawyers who take part in the survey. 

    Jack Marquis was selected in three categories:
    Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships)
    Health Care Law 
    Tax Law 

    Jack has over 40 years of experience in business, real estate, tax, and health law. He developed a specialty in concierge medicine and has been instrumental in helping physicians across the country establish their concierge medicine practices. He has also been influential in federal tax law, particularly partnership taxation, receiving Best Lawyers’ 2013 Tax Lawyer of the Year in the Grand Rapids area award. 

    Jaron J. Nyhof

    Jaron has over 20 years of experience practicing in the areas of business, real estate and securities law. He specializes in for profit and nonprofit entity formation, governance, purchases and sales; commercial contracts, transactions, and lending; private equity investments; real estate purchases, sales, leasing and development; and nonprofit securities offerings. Jaron is the chair of Smith Haughey’s Business and Real Estate Practice Group, and the founder and managing shareholder of Smith Haughey’s Holland office, which includes six attorneys, a paralegal and support staff. Jaron also serves on the board of directors of both Benjamin’s Hope and The North Country Trail Association. 

    Nicholas A. Reister

    Nick is an attorney who serves clients, families and businesses throughout Michigan. He is Chair of Smith Haughey's Trusts & Estates Group and the firm's Agricultural and Agribusiness Industry Team. His practice focuses on business, tax and estate planning to help his clients protect, grow and smoothly transition their wealth and businesses to future generations. Nick is active in the community, having served as President of the Board of Directors of the ODC Network; Elder, Greater Deacon and Past Treasurer for Haven Reformed Church in Hamilton, Michigan; President of the Western Michigan Estate Planning Council; Trustee of the Porter Hills Foundation; Member of the Professional Advisory Committee for Grand Rapids Community Foundation; member of the Steering Committee of the GRBA's Probate and Estate Planning Section; and Past Director for Youth For Christ of Ottawa and Allegan Counties.
