Holland Farmers Market To Open for 2019 Season
The highly anticipated Holland Farmers Market will open for the 2019 season next week Wednesday, May 15 at 8:00 am at the Eighth Street Market Place (150 West 8th Street) in Downtown Holland. The Market features over 100 farmers and local food vendors throughout the season offering freshly picked fruits and vegetables of every variety, along with beautiful bouquets of flowers and plants for home and garden. A wide variety of breads and baked goods, all natural honey and maple syrup and farm fresh cheese, eggs and meats are also available, in addition to sweet treats, healthy snacks and much, much more.
The Market also features a food court with dining options for breakfast and lunch, as well as street performers who entertain the crowds with music, magic and more. The Market will be open every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm through Saturday, December 21. As always, patrons are encouraged to shop early for the best product selection and are reminded that dogs are strictly prohibited at the Eighth Street Market Place while the Holland Farmers Market is taking place.

Among the new vendors joining the Holland Farmers Market this year are Lost Village Pierogies, Oh So Cheesy Cheese Company, Pinkies Ice Cream, Wormies GR, Future Days Farm, Green Wagon Farm, Tom Lyons Fruit Farm, Small Town Roots Flower Farm, Knot Spot Pretzel Company and Gourmet Concessions.
Starting in June, the Holland Farmers Market will also be hosting a new Monday Night Market held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm every Monday night in June, July and August. The Night Market will be held in the Holland Civic Center Parking Place with close to 50 regular Holland Farmers Market vendors in attendance. Food trucks, beer and wine and lawn games will also be available during the Night Market.
Along with Bodhi Tree Yoga, the Holland Farmers Market will be introducing a new Yoga at the Market series beginning May 15 and continuing the first Wednesday of every month from 9:00 am – 10:00 am. Yoga is a drop-in class for all ages and abilities. A $10 cash or check payment will be collected at the door. Be sure to bring your own yoga mat!
The Holland Farmers Market will also be announcing plans for a new Market Speaker Series in partnership with GreenMichigan.org. All classes will be held on the second floor of the Holland Civic Center Place and are $10 per person, with advance registration recommended. Topics covered will include container gardening, composting, edible landscapes and more. Registration details will be announced on the Holland Farmers Market website soon.
The Holland Farmers Market offices, public restrooms and an ATM can all be found inside the recently remodeled Holland Civic Center Place. Market vendors will continue to accept Bridge Cards (with additional Bridge Card funding provided by Double Up Food Bucks), WIC Project FRESH, Senior/Market FRESH, Prescription for Health and Market Bucks Gift Certificates.
The Market’s weekly Chef Series cooking demonstrations will take place Saturday mornings at 10:00 am from May 18 – August 31. Each week during this popular event, talented local chefs, caterers and Market vendors will demonstrate how to use fresh produce, meat, herbs and other ingredients from the Market to create a healthy, fast and delicious meal. The Chef Series is proudly sponsored by Higher Health Chiropractic with in-kind support from Visser Farms.
The weekly Kids Activities will take place Wednesday mornings from 9:30 am – 11:30 am from June 12 – August 21. Each week the Kids Activities will kick off with a Market Story Time hosted by the Herrick District Library. Afterward, children from preschool to fifth grade can enjoy fun, educational and hands-on activities free of charge, hosted by non-profit organizations and local businesses. Bubbles, hula-hoops and coloring pages are also available each week during the Kids Activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
