Holland, MI – It’s not every day you get to see a legendary blues guitarist perform for free, but you’ll have your chance when Michigan’s own Greg Nagy appears at Concerts In The Park in Downtown Holland this Wednesday, August 14. Concerts In The Park is a free lunchtime concert series event hosted by Downtown Holland every Wednesday through August 28 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in GDK Park on 8th Street between Central and River Avenues. The event is proudly sponsored by Haworth.

As a young guitarist, Nagy grew up with friends whose older siblings encouraged them to explore soul, rock, funk, jazz, and the Motown Sound originating down Interstate 75 in Detroit. The emotional blues of Muddy Waters and Albert King made a particularly strong mark on Greg, who began working regularly seven nights a week in blues and funk bands in the early 90’s. In 2004, Greg happily signed on with Root Doctor, but not too long after Cadillac Club appeared and the band performed at the Pocono Blues Festival, Greg left the band on good terms for a solo career. His first feature album in 2009 evidenced a personalized blues music refreshingly infused with elements of soul, R&B, rock, and gospel. Since then, he’s released two more records, all of which have received critical acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone Magazine, the Chicago Tribute, Detroit Free Press and countless blues and jazz publications.
Each week during Concerts In The Park, the entire community is invited to celebrate the many sounds of Holland with a free, family-friendly concert featuring a diverse line-up of musical performers. Bring a blanket, pack a lunch (or grab one “to go” from a Downtown Holland restaurant), sit back and relax as the sounds of jazz, folk, blues, Tejano music and more fill 8th Street!
