On Monday, November 25th, Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence is hosting a reception to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This reception is being held in conjunction with The Big Read Lakeshore, a community-wide reading program that takes place every November.

This year’s book is In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. This story follows the lives of the Mirabel sisters, who were members of the underground movement opposing the regime of Dictator Rafael Trujillo. International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was created in response to the Mirabel sisters and their stories of bravery and resilience.

We’d like to invite you to join us at our Holland Program Office (411 Butternut Drive) on November 25th at 6PM where you’ll have a chance to:

-Learn more about our newest prevention program, Resilient Spaces
-Tour our nurse’s examination room and learn about the process of a sexual assault exam
-See how our children’s therapy programs are designed to eliminate trauma symptoms
Complimentary wine, punch, and hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
