This collaboration between the West Coast Chamber and Holland/Zeeland Young Professionals is an effort to foster meaningful connections between females in all stages of their career. As a mentor, you will help shape a young professional’s future by sharing your knowledge and providing a firsthand glimpse of life and work in the Holland/Zeeland area. At the conclusion of the program, mentors and mentees often find that the learning has been mutual and that the relationship has grown in ways not foreseen at the start.
In order to establish a successful relationship, mentors and mentees need to be:
- Willing to be responsible for their own growth and development
- Receptive to feedback and coaching
- Open and honest with each other
- Positive, reliable and respectful
How Matches will be determined:
The Steering Committee will review the applications and determine the best matches based on the information shared. That being said, we encourage you to be specific and clear in your responses, while also keeping an open mind to mentoring/being mentored by someone who may be outside your requested industry.
How does the Mentorship Program work?
After mentees have been accepted in the program and matched with their mentors, it’s up to the mentee to initiate contact with the mentor. It is suggested that mentors and mentees meet at least quarterly, but are encouraged to meet monthly. Meeting times and locations are at the discretion of the mentor/mentee pair. Mentees should come prepared to each meeting with questions for their mentors and topics to discuss. Suggested meeting prompts and mentor/mentee activities will be provided at the Pairing Party kick off event.
