It's summer and that usually means family vacations. What could that look like this year? I spoke with Pete Beukema, Visionary and CEO of Suburban Inns, to get an update on what hotels and restaurants are doing to make travelers feel safe and welcome while on vacation under the new guidelines.

From enhanced hotel cleaning procedures for high touch areas, to mobile check ins, to  extra training for employees, in today's Member Question of the Day, Pete Beukema tells us why it's a great time to hit the road and go on vacation. Supporting local businesses is more important than ever, and he is hopeful that people will feel comfortable going the extra mile to help businesses and have fun this summer.

This is part one of a two-part series on our interview with Pete Beukema on COVID-19 and the hospitality and travel industries. View part two, on the impact of COVID-19 on the hospitality industry by clicking here.
